Hot flashes, brain fog, exhaustion, impaired digestion and major mood swings, but the one that takes the cake - vaginal changes that have made it nearly impossible to have sex.
Yeah, thank you menopause… you SUCK!!
Luckily, I knew that menopause is a major passage from one life stage to the next, and that every major passage dishes out a seemingly-insurmountable challenge or trial.
The trial requires that, in order to swashbuckle the challenges, you must step into an internal strength that you’ve never before embodied.
The unique strength that my bad symptoms made me claim:
In order to even attempt to have sex again, I had to start telling my husband exactly what I did and didn’t need or want.
It changed my life.
Not just my sex life, but my career, my relationships with family and friends, and even my relationship with my body and self.
The strength of speaking truth rather than stuffing it down - well, that is a skill I would have been too chicken to claim had it not been for my bad menopause symptoms.
But because of the symptoms, I had to.
Either that or never have a sex life again.
